In the old royal barn of Gripsholms Castle in Mariefred is now an International centre for Fine Arts printmaking. In 1996 Grafikens Hus opened its doors to 2000 square meters on two levels which today host exhibition halls, workshops, collections, a library, comference rooms, a shop and a café. The workshop is used by artists, primarily as a workplace, but visitors are welcome to catch a glimpse of techniques of printmaking. A large selection of original prints are on sale in the shop, where you can also buy books, posters and postcards. OpenMonday-Sunday 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. May-September. |

Swedish American Art ProjectGrafikens Hus Swedish American Artist Exchange program was started in 2007, in collaboration with Crown Point Press in San Francisco, one of the United State’s foremost contemporary print publishers. Grafikens Hus and Crown Point Press have invited the Swedish artists Jockum Nordström and Karin Mamma Andersson to participate in the project. During the summer 2008 Grafikens Hus presented prints by Jockum Nordström, Ed Ruscha, Vito Acconci, Per Kirkeby, Laura Owens and others in the exhibition ”CONCEPTS, CHEMISTRY & COPPER – Etchings from Crown Point Press, San Francisco”. Grafikens Hus Swedish American Artist Exchange program has been made possible by the generous support of The Barbro Oscher Pro Suecia Foundation. The artistic leader of the project is Anders Krüger, artistic director of Grafikens Hus, and the project’s manager is Anders Ström, director of Grafikens Hus. |
