An international center for fine art printmaking
In the old royal barn of Gripsholms Castle in Mariefred is now an International centre for Fine Arts printmaking. In 1996 Grafikens Hus opened its doors to 2000 square meters on two levels which today host exhibition halls, workshops, collections, a library, conference rooms, a shop and a café. A large selection of original prints are on sale in the shop. Welcome!
Current exhibitions
Grafikens Hus show 10-15 exhibitions each year. Our largest exhibition hall, Lily Art Gallery, is a fantastic place with 5 meter high ceilings and old timbers from the 1800s well preserved. Our current exhibitions is showing Lisa Jonasson & Matti Kollioinen, Maija Albrecht, Hanna Andersson & Joakim Ojanen. See more
About Grafikens Hus
Grafikens Hus opened in 1996 and is today one of the Mälardalen region's most popular museums and galleries. It is housed in the beautiful old royal barn building connected to Gripsholm Castle, in the idyllic small town of Mariefred, with views over the Castle and the waters of Lake Mälaren. Here, you can visit art exhibitions, buy graphic art, meet artists, take part in courses run in our workshop and go on tours.
The Workshop
The Grafikens Hus graphics workshop is regularly used for further training of young artists, established artists work here and workshops, courses and creative activities for both artists and private people are also held here. Our workshop has resources for the four main graphic techniques: relief printing, intaglio, lithography and screen printing. There are resources for photomechanical techniques and computer graphics. Art for sale
Swedish and international graphic art
Grafikens Hus produces, edits and sells Swedish and international graphic art to private individuals, companies, art societies and organisations. Grafikens Hus can also supply art to enhance offices and public spaces. As well as graphic art, our art shop also sells art cards, posters and art books.
Café
Our cafe serves classic dishes, wonderful cakes, sandwiches and freshly brewed coffee. Our Kafé has the same opening hours as Grafikens Hus. We can also cater for companies and groups visiting Grafikens Hus. Welcome!
